Proliant Blade running RHEL5, you’ll need a cma.log rotation script

No one seems to have written a log rotation script for the Proliant Support Pack logs that are stored in /var/spool/compaq/cma.log, so I thought I'd throw mine up here in case someone else needs one. put this in a file called "cma" in /etc/logrotate.d/

/var/spool/compaq/cma.log {
compress
missingok
size=100M
postrotate
/sbin/service hpasm restart 2> /dev/null > /dev/null || true
endscript
}

That's it. this will be picked up by the daily cronjobs and keep things from getting messy. if you want to test your config without doing any changes, run logrotate -d /etc/logrotate.conf which will output the work it plans on doing. If your big log hasn't rotated in that example, run logrotate -f /etc/logrotate.conf which force the job to run. those 6 gigs of logs are now a tidy 39 megs.

Soundtrack suggestions?

I know some of my regular readers are following Meg's blog, but some of you have been scared away. In case you missed it, we're having one of those 3D ultrasound videos made, and I'm in charged of burning a CD for the soundtrack. As such, I would like to solicite soundtrack suggestions. As most of you will be subjected to viewing this video at some point in the future, make the suggestions good.

Your Genealogical Title Has Received A Prefix

"Great" or "Second" added as appropriate. Thanksgiving day, we made the announcement to all present family that we're having a baby. Most people reading this probably already know Meg's been giving a detailed account of early pregnancy, but since this is now public knowledge, I thought I'd give her a link in case anyone reading this hasn't already heard. We're both getting past the worrying everything is going to be okay part, and starting to get excited. If you'd like, you can follow along with the whole saga from the begin. My flickr page has all the ultrasounds worth scanning. Meg's blog will have all the nitty gritty details, I will just be posting major happenings here.

WiLT:Why My Dog Humps My Cat

While contemplating why a customer said he was "using that Mazola Fox Firewall" I wondered if Foxes and Dogs were in the same genus, (they're not), but I did learn they are in the same family, Canidae. Unfortunately, it looks like Fox-Dog hybrids are not going to happen any time soon.

But, I'm getting off track. Look at the bottom of that first link. Why the dog feels she needs to dominate the cat, we may never know.
