Palm To Bluetooth To Motorola V330 To T-mobile, Nothing But Net

I’m still not exactly sure why it broke, but I was able to get my network connection back up on my palm over my phone. The problem might be on the palm, but for all I know, could still be the result of a configuration change on the T-mobile side, but what I do know is that the palm app Mobile High Speed got me up and running again.

Dear LazyWeb,

2 days ago, my T3 locked up. not that odd of an occurrance, but it hasn’t happened in months, almost a year. To get the palm up and running again, I had to restore from a backup, which, was a week old. not that big of a loss. Everything came back up, and I was able to connect the the shared internet connection running off of my wife’s PC with no problems.

The next day… Read the rest of this entry »

Questions You May Have About The Prius

The Morning News has a great Q&A about the Prius:

Q: Can you describe the quality of the Prius’s silence when you pull up to a stoplight and the gas engine shuts off entirely?

A: It is the deepest, bone-settled stillness of a kind only experienced by the greatest Zen masters after many decades of study, punctuated by the hammering riffs of System of a Down because the Prius now comes with a six-speaker surround-sound package from JBL, baby!

Meg and I took the dog and my laptop for a walk around the neighborhood tonight. I found 18 wireless networks, 15 of which were unsecured. 5 of which were named “linksys” it’s enough that the thought of cancelling my cable service and mooching from the neighbors stayed in my mind more than briefly. I’ll have to get me a GPS usb dongle so I can track down who has these access points.

Tilty Table == Cool

When we were at the Maryland Science Center, in the post below this one, I saw some very cool tech, using Keyhole maps from Google. The Tilty Table is similar to this DIY project that made the rounds around the net a few weeks ago, it’s a vertically mounted projected over a flat surface. The super cool part is you can tilt the table in any direction, and the map will move in that direction. Turn the table one way, and it will zoom out, turn the other, it will zoom in. I’m going to stop trying to explain it now, and just point you to the movie: /me points at the movie

War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Mac is Intel Processors

So, in the famous 1984 ad… Big Brother was supposed to be IBM, right? But We know IBM has been making PowerPC processors for a while now, so why does the news that Apple is going to transition to Pentium4-D chips seem so weird? Coupled with the fact that basically the main buyer of PowerPC chips after this transition looks like it’s going to be Microsoft in the Xbox 360?

In Summary: Microsoft now runs on Mac hardware, Macs now run on Intel Hardware, Up is Down, Black is White, Bad is Good.

This is more a note to myself, as I want to remember this link on setting up Bluetooth DUN in Gentoo. I just need to figure out where my USB Bluetooth dongle got to... (1)

Google Local Mobile

Go to Google Local, sure that page doesn’t look like much in your fancy pants desktop browser, but it has just increased the usefulness of my PDA by about a factor of 5. Sure, it kinda replicates what my Car’s DVD nav can already do, but this updated more often, and I don’t have to lug around a 1.5 ton specialized DVD player to find where the nearest pizza place is.

My Palm Likes To Travel

My T3 has grown weary of my pocket and decided it wants to travel, see the world via the back of a FedEx truck. Yes, I got it back just a few days ago, and has since gone all batman-wacky again. the warranty repair company is sending a fresh box, so back on the road it goes.
