Odd Thought Of The Day

Have you ever walked up to the public or workplace bathroom sink at the same time as somebody else, and begin washing your hands at the same time? I was in this very situation today, and it got me thinking. Now, I have to admit, unless Something Goes Very Wrong, I'm not one to spend whole lot of time scrubbing down afterwards. Turn on the water, a dab of soap and few rubs under the water, mainly to get rid of the soap, and I'm on my way to fight a paper towel loose from the dispenser, this hands wet enough to tear right through a paper towel stuck in a dispenser, but I digress.

Today, as I was joined at the sink by someone else in the building at work that I didn't recognize, I noticed he was doing a much better job at the washing up than me. Not as good as a job as the guy with chapped hands who looks like he's prepping for surgery and scrubbing up to the elbows, but clearly much a much more thorough job than I expected. This individual didn't have the look about him of someone who just had Something Go Very Wrong. I got the feeling that he was showing me up. Clearly I had stopped washing my hands way before this guy thought was appropriate. Or, I just had a moment of paranoia and he just is slow. Either way… uh… weird, huh? No? oh… Never mind.

  1. Don’t you know you’re supposed to sing the Happy Birthday to You song while you wash your hands, so you do a thorough job. And not a double tempo, either. I’ve failed as a mother. Oh, that’s right, I learned that since you left home.
