Brain Dump

Whenever I don't update the blog for a few days, it inevitably turns into a few weeks of no updates. Little things that would have made a nice series of little updates turn into long narratives that are a bit intimidating to try and write about. So, you end up with one of these.

I've been to the gym a few times since the last time I've blogged about it, but I haven't been going enough. Part of the reason I haven't been going is we recently got a fish tank:

Which wouldn't be all that big of news, but shortly before I was planning on blogging about the kinds of fish we had and interesting stuff about snails and similar trivia, when the day after we added a few more fish, some fish started to die. We've beening fighting Ich, fighting horribly colored water due to the medicine, and a number of different different bacteria infections in the tank, and I think we finally have things stabilized, but yesterday the cat ate two fish that were in a separate bucket getting treated with medicine. We need to make sure our nitrogen cycle gets re-established, as a lot of the harsh medicines we've been using disrupt that. It'll be at least a month or two before we try and replace the fish we lost. The upside is, the plants around the house are very happy with the extra water/fertilizer they've been getting every time I do a water change on the fish tank.

What else is new? Meg had her interview for a full time position at Eastern. Hopefully we'll hear something this or next week. Work is still pretty hectic, but they just started to give us some more time off the phones so hopefully I'll be able to investigate some of the trickier tickets that have been hanging around my queues for the last few months. I'm tired of resetting passwords, some actual problem solving will be nice.

Meg and I have started diets to try and lose some extra weight. She's doing the South Beach Diet, and I'm doing The Hacker's Diet. I started on 4/18 weighing 262, and I'm down this morning to 248, so I'm pretty happy with that. the tracking tools that come with the Hacker's Diet help even out the daily fluctuations of weighing yourself and are very encouraging. After I have some more data tracked, I'll upload some monthly charts.

That's about all I can think of so far, so I guess this was a good brain dump.
