Young Man, There’s A Place You Can Go
Posted: March 2nd, 2005 | Author: Jay | Filed under: Fitness | No Comments »More exercising at the Y last night. I did some treadmill to warm up, then did a lot of weights, then about 25 minutes on the treadmill. I was on a treadmill that measures your heartrate at the same time. I was going at a pretty good pace, but my heartrate was reading as 85 or so. That wasn’t good enough. so I started jogging faster, trying to get my heartrate up. Still no increase in heartrate. By this point, I knew my heart rate was more than 80, no matter what the stupid monitor said, I could feel my heartbeat all over. I changed my grip on the heartrate monitor contacts and the reading shot up to 199. No wonder I felt like I was about to die! I backed down my pace and did the rest of my treadmill time at a steady 165 heartrate. I was very tired by the time I got home.
I definitely am starting to notice some previously tight clothes fitting a little better, and my belt is a little looser. My posture feels better, and I think the exercise is helping me sleep better, because I’m finding it easier to wake up in the morning, but that might just be the days getting longer.
I did weigh myself last night for the first time since I joined the Y. When I started I was 265, and now I am 270. I’m not too concerned. I am losing fat, and gaining muscle.
