Debate Sushi Wings (CRUNCH!) Part 1

Had a bunch of people over for sushi and debate watching. It had the makings of a good evening but I didn't exactly have the best time, as will become obvious as I write this.

The evening started innoxiously enough. Meg had a lot of work to prepare for Grandparent's Day at school, So I went directly over there after work. After getting most of that work done, we headed home. Jen was already waiting at the house, when we got home at 7:15 pm, so she got to see us rushing around cleaning things up. Next in the door was Lon. Wyatt sent me a message to let me know that he did NOT fall asleep, and would NOT be 20 minutes late. I think he was only right on one count. He was actually 30 minutes late.

Shortly after that, Dave and Kylie showed up in Kylie's new car. Kylie asked if it was ok if she parked in the driveway. I said it was not a problem.

For those of you just skimming this, re-read that last sentence. It is what those of us in the business call a plot point.

So, everyone is here, we get our sushi order together, and then Lon and I are off to pick up the food! I open the garage door, hop in the car and start backing out.

Without looking.

Do you remember that plot point I pointed out earlier? Good, I'm glad somebody remembered, cause I sure didn't.

*CRUNCH*

I didn't even wonder what I hit. I knew what I hit. The clarity of thought that comes from a large crunching noise coming at the back of your car is amazing. At this point in our story, I'd like to provide my thoughts seconds after the fateful crunch:

Shit.
I just hit Kylie's new car.
I hit her new car that she's owned for 3 days with my new car that's I've had for about a year.
Shit Shit Shit.
Shit.
/me gets out of car, looks at Kylie's car.

hmm. maybe I didn't do anything to it. maybe it was just a bump, I was going real slow.

NOPE. fuck.

I broke a fog light. crap. At least I didn't screw up her bumper.

/me turns at looks at the prius.

Wow, that is one screwed up bumper. Shit.

Shit Shit shit.
